CV

My name is Ryan Dandelion. I am a Sydney-based photographic artist working in traditional mediums of film photography, photochemistry, silver gelatin, alternative process and hybrid digital inkjet printing techniques.

My work explores themes of vulnerability, personality, sexuality, and the photographer & subject relationship. I have been practicing photography for 10 years, self-taught from the internet and my peers. I have never studied at an art school.

In 2023 I joined a darkroom and began my printing journey creating silver gelatin prints, starting to teach, and experimenting with large format cameras.

I am neurodivergent, likely with undiagnosed ADHD and am a highly sensitive person (someone with sensory processing sensitivity). I utilise my sensitivity to hold space and encourage presence within myself and the subject through music, movement and the breath.

I make my art on the stolen lands of the Gadigal people, who are the rightful owners and custodians of this land we now call Sydney. I acknowledge and pay respect to Elders past and present, and to the generations of families who have gathered on this land for over 65,000 years. Sovereignty has never been ceded. This always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. I am currently making on the lands of the Bundjalung people in the northern rivers of NSW (until mid 2025).
